I’m such a sucker for stripes, especially navy and white stripes. I saw this breezy striped tank at Forever 21 a couple weeks ago and decided that at $14 it was worth it for me to buy and alter at home to fit {it was wayyyy too low cut and baggy}. Fortunately the alterations weren’t too bad and I was able to take it out for a spin today! I balanced out the poofiness of the fop with a slim bandage skirt on the bottom and kept with the navy to create a sort of nautical theme.
I could’ve left the outfit at that, but honestly tje basic navy and white combo looked a little boring to me {I’m a 3-color Color Brigadier!}. And so to jazz it up I threw in this hot pink skinny belt that I’ve had laying in my closet for months {I thought I would never get a chance to wear a hot pink belt!}. I love the way the hot pinks adds just the right amount of fun to the look without going overboard.
And finally, since I work in a freezing office, I always carry a cardigan with me. This rust-colored one is the perfect color to help transition into a fall wardrobe! I only wish this crazy Texas weather would get a hint — we just set a record today of having 70 100-degree days this year… ugh.

I can't lie – I'm glad we set that record today! Otherwise we would have lived through this almost unbearably hot summer with nothing to show for it!
I love the whole look, especially that tank!

Can you make a mini tutorial to hem shirts? I also find F21 tanks sometimes way to big on me even in the smallest size.
btw, sometimes your comment box doesn't show 🙁
Kileen says
sure! i can see about writing up a tutorial on how i hem shirts, although i'm still learning along the way too.
and thanks for letting me know about my comment box! i'il check with Disqus support and see what they say.

It's been the complete opposite here in Flagstaff. If only you could borrow some of our rain and we could borrow some of your heat, haha.
I love the pink + navy combo. It's one of my all-time favorites. 🙂

I love that striped tank! I keep a blazer at my desk for the transition from outdoors to indoors. Although, the climate at my desk changes from hot to cold in minutes too. Around flu season you can't tell if you're sick or if it's just the temperature changing from hot to cold. It's awful.

I'm a huge fan of stripes and anything nautical too 🙂 I like how your top goes from thinner stripes to bolder then to a solid skirt — a pretty gradient of sorts.
Kileen says
haha, thanks. i love how i can fit EVERYTHING in this bag. 🙂
Kileen says
omg, i totally know what you're saying with the temperatures changing so much at my office! i actually have a spare pair of socks too in my desk for when it gets super frigid!

I am the BIGGEST sucker for stripes. I need to remind myself I have too many, but I do really love the nautical look and that's probably why I always gravitate towards it.

I really love this tank! I find that problem frequently with F21 clothes, I'll like the pattern but the cuts are just not flattering/appropriate for my life. But I guess with prices that low, you can't be too choosy!
