Tweed can be a tricky item to style as the weather gets warmer. One the one hand, you can’t deny the classic chic-ness that tweed brings to any outfit. But, on the other hand, you don’t want to end up sweating like a pig and end up suffocating in all your stylishness. So what’s a girl to do?
Two words: Think Short. As in: shorter hems, shorter sleeves. You definitely don’t want full coverage with any sort of tweed as you’re sure to be boiling.
For bottoms, I say go for a skirt. Skirts also offer your legs room to breathe and are much more practical instead of pants in the warmer weather. I’m loving my new BB Dakota skirt here as this size 2 still looks like it’s almost a mini skirt on me!
And if you have yourself a tweed top such as a Chanel-esque jacket (lucky you!), I would opt for something with either short sleees or cropped 3/4-length sleeves. Or if that’s not an option, wear the jacket with a tank underneath (and pray that the tweed doesn’t starting itching!).
So there you go. My two cents. 🙂
P.S. In case you missed it:

P.P.S. This skirt is quickly becoming a petite favorite. Check it out on Jean and Annie too!

I love the outfit! Esp the groton with the beige quilted purse. And you're brave for doing self-tripod pics out on the sidewalk.
Kileen says
haha, i took these pictures right after work and there was actually lots of
foot traffic! people were super nice and walked around me and out into the
street while i quickly snapped my pics. one guy did end up yelling across
the street "YOU LOOK GOOD!" which totally caught me off guard. 🙂

I am loving all of your outdoor pictures, and the blue + tweed combination = genius!

I love this skirt! The shoes go perfectly with the skirt. This shade of blue is beautiful with gray! Are you going to the meet up on the 30th? I plan to go. I hope I get to meet you! Nekiah

This has got to be one of my top 5 favorite outfits of yours. There's not one item I don't love 🙂 I'm so glad you're keeping this beige quilted purse. The color is so versatile that I'm regretting not getting my Chanel in beige.

Gorgeous!!
I love that BB Dakota skirt that some of the petite ladies have! So cute!!
I am loving your bracelet assortment!

This tweed looks perfectly springy. I'm very much in looove with this skirt. I had a tweed skirt and I lost in in one of my many moves this last year. So sad!
Kileen says
yes, i do plan on going to the meetup on the 30th!! can't wait to meet
everyone! 🙂
Kileen says
yes, i think i'm going to keep this purse for now. i really like it for the
summertime and i figure it did wait long enough for YesStyle to ship it to
me, so I'll at least try to get some more wear out of it!
Jen says
I have the same necklace from Forever 21 too 🙂 I like the way you styled everything together.
Kileen says
oh no!! so sad that you lost the tweed skirt!! hopefully you can find a
replacement. they're so classic!

That skirt is amazing! I love how it's metallic AND tweed. The whole outfit looks great.
Kileen says
yay!! i just saw it there last weekend and decided i needed me nice layered
pearl necklace like all the other petites. 🙂 now i just gotta save up for
a real one someday, lol.

Gah, you look amazing and I am loving the new backgrounds. I never thought about tweed before but you got me hooked. I must go on the search for tweed.

Oh I'm glad to see the Yesstyle bag back. It may not be Chanel but it's uber chic and uber cute. 🙂 Thanks for showing this kind of transitional style. It's always good to relegate a minimum amount of winter clothes to the "winter bin" and use up the rest for other seasons, too.
And kudos for the outdoor pics! It's so awkward when strangers are around to secretly gawk at what you're doing. 🙂

I typically don't think of tweed as a spring fabric, but you've convinced me otherwise! You look adorable. What a great spring work outfit!

Great tips on how to wear tweed….I don't own any tweed items but your skirt is so lovely. I think the combo with the chambray shirt is casual chic!

You're a natural with the camera! I would have never guessed there was any foot traffic. I feel awkward posing even when I'm a tourist, lol. The purse and skirt look gorgeous together. Love the beige tweed. I originally thought the skirt might be too short for my liking, but after seeing it on several petites I'm lusting for one now. It's on sale at Beyond the Rack but returnable for only store credit so I'm hoping Gilt or Hautelook have another BB Dakota sale soon.
Kileen says
From my experience, Hautelook and Gilt only allow store credit returns as
well, so you may not have much better luck… The skirt is still available
on Beyond The Rack for $40 and lots of sizes available!

Adorableee. Just read through the comments and noticed your cam remote, I am NOT brave enough to take pictures in public! Yesterday while trying to do OOTD photos there was a neighbour bbq'ing, and while the smell tempted me I hid behind my shed so he wouldn't see me! I'm new to the style blog thing, I still get intimidated. 😛
Love this look, I'm in the market for a chambray shirt! You've got some great options posted!

lol, taking pictures outside is not that bad at all. people are super nice
when they see me taking my picture and i don't mind them looking. usually
they'll ask if they can help too which is so generous of them!
bianca says
i love your blog<3
AUBS says
you are so brave to do this while there are ppl around. ppl don't ask you what you're doing? or give u weird looks? esp other girls?
I prefer it if the shirt was slimmer, closer to the body. b/c the proportions look top-heavy.
but the skirt is a great fit on you.
Kileen says
nope, no questions, just a few looks. but i know i would probably be
looking too, so i don't mind. and the looks were the same from both girls
and guys. 🙂
and i think the proportions are a bit off cause the chambray shirt is a bit
big on me. i'm probably going to run it on high heat through the dryer
again and if that doesn't work, i'll get it slimmed. there's a good 2" on
each side right now resulting in a ton of bulkiness!

lovin' the tweed! agree that it's tricky when it comes to spring – how NOT to look like a sweaty pig because the material is so thick – but i love the way you paired it with a spring-colored button-down & LOVE the accessories. totes classy! – steph (hoisinivy.com)

You should consider changing you blog's name to cute, little & super chic! Can't even tell you how much I loved this one! Mix of beige and blue looks so preeeetty! and oh well that quilted Chanel i love!
