I’m naturally a messy person (I call it “organized chaos”) but since having kids, I’ve actively been making steps to be a better model in keeping a clean space and picking up after myself wherever I go. I read Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up last year, and it changed my mindset about clutter and holding onto “stuff.” Once I got started, I found that purging items that no longer brought me joy was like having a weight removed from my shoulders. Now that spring is here, I’ve found that I have an itch to clean the house and start fresh. Cleaning can actually be therapeutic in a way and I’ve found that it leaves me feeling calm, accomplished, and even more inspired in my own home.
Cleaning doesn’t have to mean a lot of chemicals and recently I learned about the Lemi Shine line of cleaning products, a staple for your spring cleaning checklist. I was instantly drawn to their ethos of creating products that were free of toxins, chemicals, and other dubious ingredients yet ensuring that their products were powerful enough to tackle the most challenging jobs. Lemi Shine relies on 100% natural citric extracts and the result is safe yet powerful. Lemi Shine‘s story is also one that I could relate to as it starts with a mom being a conscientious consumer and just wanting to buy cleaning products that were safe to use in her home with little ones. Now Lemi Shine has a full line of cleaning products that range from laundry to dishwashing to appliance and household cleaners so it has to be part of your spring cleaning checklist!
We spent last weekend deep cleaning our kitchen / dining room, and I loved that I could get the kids to help too without worrying about nasty chemicals! The Lemi Shine Everyday Cleaner is one of my favorite products out of their entire line — if I had to choose just one product to recommend you start out with, this one would be it. It’s safe, powerful, and even resists new messes with their trademarked GUNKGARD (a natural polymer that creates a invisible, protective layer on surfaces).
The Lemi Shine Dish Detergent Booster is also kind of life-changing. We have hard water in our house so we’ve always had spots on our glasses. We only have one receptacle in our dishwasher so I added the Lemi Shine Detergent pod first and then poured the booster on top. I’m also not one to rinse our dishes before putting them into the dishwasher so I need a detergent that can cut through stuck-on food and grease. The Lemi Shine Detergent pods have a combination of powder and gel in each pod, and when used in conjunction with the Lemi Shine Detergent Booster, our dishes were coming out glistening just like what you see in commercials! These two products are definitely new staples in our dishwashing regimen.
For that deep clean, I love that Lemi Shine offers a dishwasher cleaner that makes it as easy as pouring in a powder to the dispenser and just running the dishwasher when empty. It’s definitely saved me from having to get on my hands and knees to clean out the inside! Similarly with the disposal cleaner pods, we put one down our garbage disposal and the kids loved seeing the bubbles rise from the sink. The disposal instantly smelled fresh and clean!
Next weekend we’ll be tackling the bathrooms and I can’t wait to try out the glass cleaner as well as shower + tile cleaner — we’ve got some serious soap scum in our bathtub from the kids using the jets!
And lastly, if you’re like me and like to work off lists, I’ve uploaded my spring cleaning checklist below (printable version available too!). Lemi Shine definitely makes lots of those tedious cleaning tasks simple as can be just by popping in a pod or pouring in one of their cleaners. Lemi Shine is available at stores such as Walmart, Target, Lowe’s but be sure to check their store locator to find the stores nearest to you. And while you’re on their website, print out their coupons to save yourself a few bucks too while getting clean freak clean!
