I decided to reach into my closet and pull out clothes that I bought several years ago but haven’t worn in several years. For me, it feels good to revive old clothes and when pairing different things together, it’s almost like having new clothes again! The blouse was something that I found at Forever 21 years ago but haven’t work because I’m not a big fan of button-down shirts and the fabric is a very light silk so I find that it’s a pain to keep it tucked in. But, I really like the detailing of the shirt in the front and the cut is very suitable for petite figures.
I decided to pair it with a super old skirt that I bought from Banana Republic almost 8 years ago when I first saw a size 0 on their racks! The skirt was still huge at the time (went down to the knee and gave me hips that I didn’t have), but thank goodness my aunt is an expert seamstress. I was able to get the entire skirt altered and it was actually wearable! The fabric is a really nice wool and the cut looks very professional yet chic at the same time. The friction of the wool skirt actually helped to keep the blouse tucked in nicely for most of the day.
If you haven’t noticed, I love pairing feminine outfits with super tall platform pumps. The height of the heels not only gives me another good 3″ but also makes the outfit look less childish. I loved how the bow in the heels tied in with the bow of the shirt.
Overall, I need to practice pulling out older items from my closet more and getting use out of them. Oftentimes I’ll find real gems that have gone by the wayside but that have definitely come back in fashion and need some more love. ^_^
Thank you to lollipop26 who recently shopped her stash for giving me this inspiration!
Hope you guys enjoyed!

I love that top so much! The color, the texture, and design…I am drooling over it. I wear a lot of button downs to work and I am always on the hunt for more feminine alternatives like the one you are wearing. 🙂

@Elle Thanks! Forever 21 oftentimes has a really good selection of silky button-down tops that are really nice and fit well. They are kinda rare to find these days, but good luck!

Great job and lucky you to have an aunt that can alter your clothes for you! That will hopefully save you a lot $$ in the long run and opens up a lot of options for you too!

@curls-and-pearls My aunt actually lives in California (I'm in TX) but I see her every Christmas. I actually will stockpile my clothes and take them on vacation with me just so she can alter them all for me with a heavy-duty professional sewing machine. It's awesome! So much money saved. 🙂

The top looks really nice on you! I think the silky texture makes the button down look really feminine and pretty. I love the peeptoes as well.

Love that top, the tuxedo pleats and the silk…gorgeous. It doesn't look like F21 at all, but it's great! =)
