I’m switching it up today and wanted to share a fun play date magical party that we had for Dylan a few weeks ago. Dylan’s birthday is July 3, so every year we struggle getting his friends over for a party since it falls so close to Independence Day. So this year, I wanted Dylan to be able to have all his friends over to for a play date magical party before the school year ended and everyone dispersed. Both Dylan and Mei love Micky Mouse Clubhouse (Mei is obsessed with Donald Duck and Dylan is all about Mickey) so I figured it would be fun to throw a Micky Mouse Clubhouse themed magical party that they would both enjoy!
INVITE
Funny enough, Dylan loves having physical invitation cards to give his friends so I found a invitation template online (did you guys know that Etsy actually has lots of invitation templates? Thank you to my friend Trish for letting me in on this little secret!) and edited it in Photoshop to create this one for our little play date. We just got a new color printer so it was the perfect opportunity to give it a run! The quality was super impressive and I loved the convenience of being able to print it out at home!
MAGICAL PARTY DECOR
Meanwhile, it’s not a magical party without some tasty treats! I set up a table for the kiddos with lots of Micky Mouse Clubhouse themed decor including party hats, confetti, and lots of balloons! The cupcake wrappers and toppers were the perfect finishing touch for the table centerpiece!
ACTIVITIES
I seriously stressed over activities for the kids but it ended up I didn’t need to at all! I had planned 3 different activities that they could do including Magic Match (pair up identical Disney-themed cards), Fortune Teller (a fun hand-game that matches you up with a Disney character depending on which number and color you pick), and character charades. Turns out all the kids wanted to do was play outside in the backyard and Dylan had the all entertained with his assortment of ride-on toys for the whole afternoon!
DISNEY MAGICAL PARTY FOOD
Ok, so I kinda slacked on the food. I had plans to get all Pinterest-y and make these Mickey Mouse cheese cutouts and pretzel bites but I ended up running out of time and Chick-Fil-A totally came to the rescue. The kids had a mix of chicken nuggets and chicken salad sandwiches and it ended up being a great option that the kids and parents all enjoyed! We finished it off with some cupcakes that Dylan picked out from Whole Foods earlier.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our little Disney playdate magical party! Dylan and Mei have still been talking about it and I’m really happy that the party went off without a hitch (I don’t know about you but planning parties can stress me out!). I’d love to read your tips on hosting parties for your little ones!
