Color Brigade: Vol 8

LOFT Olive Blazer - 00P / $48 (purchased from Annie) (similar)
Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 (gifted from parents) (similar)

This outfit is more my style.  No 6" heels.  And no ankle socks.  It was another Monday back at work and time to look profesh.  There's no better way to step up an outfit than with a snazzy little wool blazer.  The weather also gave me a hand and cooled down just enough so that I wasn't sweating in my layers either.  With all these favors in hand, this outfit couldn't not be worn! *

It's Color Brigade time again!  This week, I mixed together some olive, gold, gray, and navy

Now it's your turn!  Link up your colorful outfits below.

Note:  feel free to link up any outfit you wore in the past week or an outfit that you'll be wearing later this week -- it doesn't have to be something you actually wore today!

An Extra Six Inches

Skirt: Gap Tweed Skirt - 0 (shrunken in the dryer) (similar)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Dany - 5 (buy - on sale for $49!)

Wow, what a busy weekend.   The DFW Blogger Meetup was a huge success!!  Fifteen amazing gals came out, and we all bonded over an afternoon brunch followed by makeup makeovers courtesy of Dior and Allure magazine.  I don't want to give too much away now as there will be a separate (huge) post showing everything with pictures galore.  Please stay tuned as that post will be going up soon.  :)

As for my outfit today, I spiced up what would have been almost a schoolgirl type of outfit with my argyle sweater and tweed skirt with some sky-high heels and ankle socks.  The ankle socks were originally going to be knee-high socks, but somehow the look just didn't quite look right when I put it on.  And instead of forgoing the knee-high socks altogether, I decided to take a cue from Ramsey and try out an ankle sock look.  I'm not quite sure if this worked out...  Did it make my short legs even shorter?

Either way though, I definitely enjoyed the extra 6" (5.8" if you're being technical) provided by these awesome shoes.  I went grocery shopping and for once I was able to reach the top shelf.  Booyah.

Friday Night

Omg, it's Friday night guys!!  And even better than that, it's the eve of the DFW Blogger Meetup!  I'm so excited that I don't even know what to do with myself.  So I put on red shoes.  And wore polka-dots.  Can you sense the excitement?!  :)

As for my plans tonight, Adrian and I are catching up on Glee (we've watched 3 episodes tonight already!).  I don't know how I lived without it for so long.  That, and we're having fajitas.  Best. Night. Ever.

Happy Friday!

Three

My pile of housework and wedding planning is getting tall, so I'm leaving you just a short and sweet threesome for today.
  1. My hair's all stringy for a reason:  it's half wet.  I figured since it was raining already there wasn't any point in styling it only to have it frizz up once I stepped outside.  So here it is in it's naturally wavy mess.  It's "bedhead"-ish?  Maybe?
  2. I have a safety pin holding my cardigan together.  Without it, the cardigan would've started buttoning about 1" above my waist.  A little too low I think so my little safety pin did the trick.  Hopefully you can't tell.  :)
  3. I just watched the first episode of Glee for the first time in my life.  And I'm hooked.  They just had to sing Journey, didn't they?

Tutorial: Custom Blogger FavIcon (Website Url Icon)

If you have a Blogger blog, you will notice that Blogger uses a default "B" icon for your blog:
However, it's actually fairly easy to customize the image to your own picture to look something like this:

Here are the simple steps:
  1. Find a picture you want to use for your custom icon.
  2. The picture ideally needs to be a square size.  If your picture is not square then the resulting icon will look deformed (not good).  To resize your picture to something square, you can do it easily in Picnik.
    1. Go to Picnik and upload your picture.
    2. Select the Crop button from the top toolbar.
    3. In the crop window, now resize your picture so that you have the same pixels for both the width and height.  Move the crop window so that the image you want to have shown for your icon is selected.
    4. http://www.iconj.com/favicon_hosting.php

    5. Once the picture is resized, then save it to your computer.
  3. Now go to IconJ
  4. Upload your picture:
  5. Once the icon is generated, copy the second link that allows you to have IconJ host your images.
  6. Now log in to Blogger to edit your blog. Select the Design tab, and then choose Edit HTML.
  7. Check the box to Expand Widget Templates.
  8. Search the code (use Ctrl + F) for </head>
  9. Paste the copied line from IconJ right before the </head> tag.
  10. Save your template and you're good to go!  Refresh your blog and you should now see your custom icon!
Let me know if you have any questions!

P.S. In case you missed it, I did get dressed today.  :)

I was this close to not having anything to wear today, y'all.  The better half of my wardrobe is out of commission as it's in the laundry pile and the other half that's left is a mish-mash of odds and ends that didn't make the first cut.  I ended up throwing on this orange top that I bought back in my early days of college (which was over 10 years ago!  anyone wanna guess my age?  lol).  Whoever says Forever 21 clothes fall apart easily has yet to meet this shirt.  It's basically like a little sister to me now.  I kinda half ignore it most of the time and don't give it the attention it deserves, but it always saves me in an emergency.  Does this mean I'm not an only child anymore?  :)

Belt:  Express Black Patent Belt borrowed from dress - XS (similar)
Purse:  Louis Vuitton Bellevue PM (similar)

I'm totally on a wild streak this week.  First, red pants.  Now, leopard print?  Whoa, nelly.  I had the day off today and spent the majority of the day figuring out the details of my honeymoon.  Now if you think leopard print is crazy, wait until you hear where we're going for our honeymoon.  AFRICA!*  Yes, friends, we will be seeing leopard print in real life.  On a leopard.

I'm pretty excited about the trip.  Our plans include doing a 1.5 week safari through the Serengeti during the time of the Great Migration.  Wildebeests, leopards, giraffes, elephants, zebras, gazelles -- we'll be seeing it all.  After looking at these pictures, I'm thinking I should take this cardigan on my trip.  Maybe it'll actually work as camouflage out there?  :)

As for now, it'll just work for the Color Brigade!  This week, I bring you the colors cream, teal, and leopard.

Now it's your turn!  Link up your colorful outfits below.

Note:  feel free to link up any outfit you wore in the past week or an outfit that you'll be wearing later this week -- it doesn't have to be something you actually wore today!

* Why Africa?  2 reasons:  (1) We have to go before we have kids.  (2) It's expensive.  So we're asking our wedding guests to help pay (i.e. it's on our registry).  :)
