The weather finally cleared up today and I actually put on heels today {I've been slumming it in flats lately}, so outfit pictures were a must!  Although my look today was again super simple, I love this shearling-lined corduroy jacket.  The rich colors and the soft texture make it the perfect layering piece for this cooler weather!

And because my parents are going out of town tomorrow and Adrian and I wouldn't be around on Monday to celebrate my mom's actual birthday, Adrian and I took my parents out for dinner tonight at one of our favorite local Chinese restaurants. I decided to surprise my mom with a homemade Chinese fruit cake {using this recipe}. The cake was surprisingly time-consuming to make and Adrian and I worked on parts of it all this week to finally have it ready for tonight. Although the frosting ended up making everything look messy at the end, the cake was super delicious {both my mom and Adrian went back for seconds!}. Happy Birthday, Mom!!  :)

These types of cakes are so light and yummy. I'm definitely into the less sugary type of dessert.

Your entire family match! That's so cute.

Love the jacket.

Happy birthday to your Mom, Kileen. So sweet of you and Adrian to take the time to make cake for her. I'm sure she really appreciates it. I saw the cake and immediately searched for "recipe", then of course, I saw your comment on the "time consuming" part and decided to pass. lol.
The outfit is very cozy. I love the color and texture of your jacket.  Oh, Mommy is looking fantastic.

Haha, cute that you all wound up in red. And what a great cake! I baked a chocolate cake on Friday to bring to my grandparents, not quite so healthy as yours.
