I first saw this shirt on Mayte {love this girl, btw!} and knew I had to have it.  I've been looking to add a printed silk blouse to my wardrobe for a few months now and the horses on this shirt were exactly what I was looking for.  Only caveat?  This shirt isn't actually meant to be worn alone as a shirt -- there aren't any buttons!

Not to be deterred though, I was able to make it work with the addition of a belt and a carefully placed safety pin.  This blazer/cardigan/cover-up top ended up looking kinda like a kimono with these changes, but I really like it!  It's like mixing up a bit of American polo with Japanese costumery.  Best of both worlds?  I think so.  :)

Lovely colors and print. It's great that you turned it into a shirt with only a safety pin and a belt. :)

I do love the horse print! I love that you managed to make it work alone, and of course you can always knot it over something...

What a prefect pairing...gray skinnies with this top and that purse! They look so great together!

And you are so right...very polo, yet kimono-ish!

It's amazing how you can transform anything into a wearable top with a belt huh? Love it. This top is amazing, love the print and color. Almost bought a similiar dress pattern in H&M but it wasn't on sale yet, maybe later. You always find the best coordination items, the bag looks like the perfect match. So pretty.

ah... you finally hopped on the wagon with the horse-print trend.  i have to say, it looks fantastic on ya.  it does resemble a kimono top... but it looks stylish on you.  i like the contrast with the jeans.  :)

LOVE this look with the horse print!!  Quite clever on your part with the safety pin and belt!  (I have a horse print top from H&M that I may try to belt now!)

P.S.  The vintagemobile is housed in Dallas normally on the weekends.  They will be there Sunday by the Belmont Hotel (I think)!  :o)

If you hadn't said, I would have thought that horse-printed blouse was by Marc Jacobs!

Kileen said... [Reply]

Very creative you are! While boutique shopping in San Francisco I saw similar horse print tops and dresses. I look like a 12 year old in them but you look amazing and so not like a kid.
Cheers,
Bre
