Dress: Forever 21 (bought in April, slimmed sides) - S / $24 (similar ASOS one)
Watch: Michael Kors "Small Runway" (MK5430) - $127 (buy)
Shoes: Charlotte Russe Boots (2010) - 6 / $15 (I like these Steve Madden's)
I love the idea of mixing pieces from different seasons. Since we had a rare day of 80-degree weather, I decided to take advantage of what is probably the last day this year that I'll be able to wear my summer dress and layered it up with a faux fur vest and suede ankle booties.
I was a bit unsure of this outfit when I put it on this morning and I'm a bit ambivalent about it now when I look at these pictures. One the one hand, I love the mixture of textures and seasonal pieces. On the other hand, I think I should've paired it with a slimmer dress instead as the poofy-ness of the skirt kinda clashes with the puffiness of the fur vest. Not to mention the fact that these boots come up at an awkward height on my calves... But either way, this outfit was fun to wear so let's just leave it at that. :)
The cold front actually rolled in just as I was taking these pictures too. Can you see the little goosebumps on my arms?
Oh, and don't forget about the JCPenney for Chictopia campaign! I have some trendsetter badges to award to be sure to leave a comment with your Chictopia outfit featuring a JCPenney item so that I don't miss it!

you look AMAZING kileen!! love your vest, dress, and shoes!! the background of your photos is awesome too!!!
thanks Sandy! we were lucky and were able to snap the pictures right before it started raining!
Because of your clear, crisp photos your goose- bumps are very visible!^^ i know right, the weather here in Texas is like a see-saw, up and down!
I like the sepia-like tone of your photos too, vintage-y!
I agree with the dress... but since you have a great body shape it actually looks good on you even with the poofyness. The photos are fantastic!
Sine you mentioned it, I would be interested to see you pair this vest with something more fitted. I love the muted colors in this outfit, though! And the background in these photos is so neat!
Hope you had a nice weekend! :)
those boots are so cute.... and so cheap! i better get some for myself. :)
i absolutely LOVE your watch. I'm petite and have small wrists so I've been looking for a Michael Kors watch that wouldn't overwhelm them and I came across the MK5430. I noticed that you list it at $127 - however, everywhere I've seen it listed for $250. I hope you don't mind me asking where you were able to buy it for such a low price?!
thanks and I love your blog as well!
I actually had some money left on a gift card that my mother-in-law gave me to Dillards as a Christmas gift from last year... otherwise the cheapest I've seen this watch is for $225 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Michael-Kors-Womens-Watch-MK5430/dp/B004UC72IM
hope that helps!
yes, definitely pairing it with a more fitted dress next time!
thanks! you're too kind, Chris. :)
I see what you mean but I actually really love it Kileen- the mixing of summer and Fall/winter pieces is so fun!

You're so cute Kileen! I love where you take all your photos. Who's the mystery person behind the camera?
I normally take all my pictures on my own, but I was able to get Adrian (hubby) to help out today!
Kileen
It's always instructive when you share your thoughts on whether the outfit works! I see what you mean, but I think the boots are OK because while they are not exactly nude, they are not a strongly contrasting color such as black which would really cut off your legs. Very cute outfit.
A-Plus picture taking ^_^ with smiles attached, haha
The look's very put-together. At least, I thought it went together pretty well. It's one of those that if you put it on and go out, then of course it looks good~
Kudos for the booties as well ;)
Oh I think that whole outfit is really cute! You could probably wear anything and look cute :) But I do really love the mixing of patterns and textures!
Love this outfit! i'm a lso a big fan of mixing clothes from different seasons :)

Are you kidding?! This is a great outfit!! Love the vest, dress, and booties!! The dress isn't too poofy. You look fab! (And the same thing happened to me yesterday. It was warm and got cold all of a sudden! I had to change into warmer clothes!)
Oh Kileen, you never cease to amaze me with your creative outfit combination. So unexpected, yet it works! Thanks for the daily dose of inspiration!

i just upgraded my camera to a Canon 5D Mark II with the 50mm f1.4 lens. and thank you!
Thanks for taking the time out to respond Kileen! I actually ended up buying the larger version on Black Friday from Saks online - only $175 + free shipping. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
wow, $175 is a great deal!! great job on snagging it while it was on sale!
I think the outfit is rad! If you're concerned about poofiness, maybe putting the belt over the vest would slim it up. Either way, it's still cool!
