I love how a cargo vest isn't just for the safari anymore and can actually be styled for the workplace. When mixed with something that's more dressy and romantic like this red and white lace number, it perfectly tones down the outfit for something that's more casual yet still chic.  My outfit would've otherwise looked like I was going out for date night.  But, add a cargo vest and I'm all set for the office!  Looks like this cargo vest is proving its utility even outside of the jungle.

conceptually i would never have thought these things would go together, but seriously, i adore this outfit! i dont think i could ever re-create it to look this good, tho. well, i dont have a vest or lace skirt, so i suppose i wont have to worry about it!

Love the punch of color with the raspberry top!  And what an unexpected combination of cargo and lace.  Work so well together!

Great color combination. This skirt looks perfect on you! Thanks for the sample coupon. I really like the color that you're wearing. I might have to give it a try.

the lipstick is super pigmented so apply sparingly! i just put a dab on my lower and upper lips and then spread it out with my fingers. it is a pretty color though!

One of my favorites of yours! The colors are so rich. I suddenly can't wait for Thanksgiving to be here... maybe it's your cranberry colored top? I like how the vest makes your dressy skirt more casual. Gorgeous, Kileen.

thank you so much!

It's like two outfits in one! With the vest is a little more down to earth but without it you are ready go go get dinner and look so elegant!

Gorgeous!  That berry color is very unique for the vest!

You remind me of Sailor Mars with that color scheme and your dark hair!

You just some up with such great combination pieces. Who knew lace and a utility vest can work together is such a fabulous way! Another great inspiration to work on! Thanks Kileen! - Mar

Kileen you are so stunning and absolutely correct on the cargo vest front.  I love all the ways they can be styled.  Yours looks amazing with the lace skirt!  I'm sensing an inspiration.  Love it!

I agree that this outfit transitions perfectly to a night out without the vest!

Very beautiful, Kileen!  The vest adds plenty of toughness to many of the soft and sweet garments here.  Just an amazing look from an amazingly beautiful petite!

So cute and so happy you were the one who got this skirt after I tweeted! You move quick! LOL

Looks amazing on you and I think you should get the waist fixed- it's worth it! I refused but then caved in...I do agree- it's a bit short when worn on the natural waist but it's not like we are going to wear it to work...hehehe

ThaiThu Vien said... [Reply]

OMG - I love the lace skirt. I was searching for it on modcloth and lulu for a while. Who knew that it re-stocked ;( It looks awesome on you! Such a great pairing with the cargo vest and the top gives it such a pop of color. I made my first attempt at color-blocking today - mustard and orange - not sure if it looks great but would love your input ;)

The vest with this outfit is really unexpected, but it looks ultra-chic.  I don't think I would have thought about combining the vest with the skirt.  I like it!

The tie on the vest hits you at the perfect spot...I would never think to pair a vest like this with lace, but that's what makes this outfit so fantastic!

Kileen, I am obsessed with this outfit.
For one, I've been looking for a vest like that, or a military one, similar, for such a long time and I can't find the perfect one--and look, this is such amazing inspiration for an outfit if I ever do find one. I love it! I would have NEVER thought to pair this together, but you look amazing. It's perfect!
