Top: Forever 21 Lslv Crochet Sweater (recent) - S / $32.80 (kinda similar)
Cami: The Limited Seamless Cami (old) - S (similar) (similar)
Belt: Ann Taylor Perfect Skinny Belt - XS (buy) (cheaper)
Skirt: Papaya White Pencil Skirt (old) (slit altered to open lower) - S (similar) (a LOFT option)
Shoes: Steve Madden Tumbled Slingbacks (old) - 5 (love these!) (similar)
Purse: Aldo Iezzi Clutch - $35 (buy on sale $21!)
Necklace: The Limited (recent) - gifted (similar)

Along with lace, another trend I'm head over heels in love with is crochet {honestly, they're both kinda similar aren't they?}.  I saw this crochet top on the Forever 21 website a couple weeks ago and decided to add it to my cart as a free-shipping filler.  I was really wary about the fit since the smallest size it came in was a small...  The top is a little baggier than I'd like {hence the waist belt} and the shoulders are a little offset from where my shoulders naturally end...  but the crochet stitching is so pretty!!

Readers: What do you think?  Keep or return?

So funny! I tried on the exact same sweater today at lunch :) It didn't look so good on me though. It seems to fit you great. A bit pricey for a F21 sweater IMO. If you like it, I'll say keep it. I do like the color. Have a great weekend, Kileen!

the price is also why i'm so on the fence about it! i do love the color, but not sure if it's worth it. we'll see i guess. :)

Keep it! The fit may not be perfect, but the color look wonderful on you plus it will be great for fall. I love your necklace!

Have a great weekend!  :)

Keep!  I think it looks great on you!  A perfect transition to fall piece.

Keep Keep Keep!!! It is a GORGEOUS top and looks great belted. I love crochet too and that color is fabulous.

Hmm... if you think you'll get many wears out of this top, I say keep. Otherwise, I could think of 1-2 other lace tops/dresses that you already own that could probably substitute for this. The color is unique though. Sorry I'm no help :(

yeah, i'm trying to figure out what other outfit combos i can come up with for this shirt to make it worthwhile too... the color is pretty unique though.

I think it's a keeper!  Imagine it layered over a plain, long-sleeve tee for fall, then layered with a blazer or sweater for winter.  That crocheted look is perfect for the cooler months, and the loose fit will allow for great layering.

Kileen said... [Reply]

oh that's very true!! i can definitely see it layered with a long-sleeve shirt for cooler weather. thanks!

such a great background in these photos - and love that knit top!

I  think it fits you really well! The offset shoulders shouldn't be a major problem because it seems like that's the style these days. I've seen sweaters that are purposely made with offset shoulders.

Keep! Color and fit is good on you. If you can wear this at least five times, it is worth it, right?

Love what you're wearing, your taste in fashion is pretty good :_)

I think it's a keeper - it's a statement piece without going over the top.

Have you looked at JCrew's Carrie Crochet Sweater? I have it in Dune and it is my favorite piece in my closet.

Lyddiegal said... [Reply]

Oh Kileen, you are hilarious. You can't return things to forever 21!
But the top is cute, and is a great color that you can easily wear into the fall.

Bravoerunway said... [Reply]

I think you should keep you it!  You'll get so much wear out if between now and fall!  Good luck with your decision :)

I am also really really loving crochet right now!  I LOVE this sweater, the color is gorgeous and I think the fit is perfect so that you can wear it into fall over other layers, belted or not...in my opinion, a definite keeper!

You HAD to brag on the Mavericks, didn't you (I'm a Rockets fan)?  While I'm no Mavs fan (congratulations to the Mavericks on winning the title), I am a fan of this look of yours, Kileen.  You've built quite the winning team here- a lovely crochet top, lovely necklace, lovely skirt, and a sweet pair of high-heel sandals.  Great look and a winning combination!

Love the top! I just saw it at F21, but didn't buy it because I don't think the color goes with my skin tone or hair color. I wish they had it in black or white because it looks gorgeous on you!

So elegant, I love this whole look.  This color suits you perfectly.

I think this is lovely on you.  I would probably have jumped right to wearing a piece like this with jeans, but I love how you've dressed it up!  Great color, too.

I hope you keep it because it is adorable!

I think it's cute, but unless you're totally in love with it... Crochet tops are not rare things out there so there's always the chance you could find one you like even better.

Kileen said... [Reply]

Very good point! Thanks. :)
