Adrian and I are off on a 2-week honeymoon adventure in Africa from June 3 - 18!! I'm off on a plane already as you're reading this (36 hour plane ride, woohoo!) but keep reading if you're interested in some of what we have planned for our trip.
The first 1.5 weeks of the trip will be spent in the deserts of Tanzania where we'll be off on safari looking for giraffes to pet and elephants to ride. It'll be a real "rough and tough" kind of adventure but that's my kind of trip! I was never one for the "sit at a beach all day and do nothing" kind of vacationer (a cruise trip was the worst vacation I ever took as I was bored out of my mind) so I'm super excited!
You might be wondering why we're having our honeymoon so long after the wedding. Well, it was no accident. We timed our vacation so that we're there right in time for the Great Migration! The annual Great Migration of wildebeest and other grazing herbivores across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is one of the greatest spectacles in the natural world. Over two million herbivores partake in this journey, with about 200,000 zebra and 500,000 gazelle behind one-and-a-half million wildebeest. I'm imagining that this will be like something out of the Lion King. :)
After 9 days on safari, we will be spending the last 3 days on the tropical island of Zanzibar. This is probably going to be more like your traditional honeymoon spot as I've read that there's nothing but amazing secluded beaches, amazing scuba diving and snorkeling, and even straw huts sitting on top of the water. Adrian and I will definitely be snorkeling it up and hopefully doing some of our first ocean dives too.

We're considering doing tanzania and zanzibar in the next year or two, so I'll be awaiting your trip report! Have a great time, and enjoy! I was never one for a sit there and do nothing beach vacationer destination type, but those places have amazing underworlds to explore! I got hooked on snorkeling, and we're working to get our OW certification.
I've heard so many good reports about both the snorkeling and diving in Zanzibar so I'm pretty excited. Definitely will have a fill report when I get back! :)

Be careful out there and have fun! Pretty adventurous and ambitious to have a Safari honeymoon. Never realized you have such interest for nature. Then again, you are wildly cute petite and wildly stylish. ;)

Aaah, i'm soo happy for you !! For one thing I ACTUALLY AM A TANZANIAN MYSELF !! I've been to more safari's than i can remember and they were all definitely WORTH IT ! i would seriously recommend Zanzibar coz i was only there for such little time and deeply regret not exploring some more ! Hope u have loads of fun with your hubz ! <3

Tanzania was beautiful and I was so happy I was able to check it out! How lucky you are to actually be from such a wonderful place! Zanzibar is such a great little island too and we did lots of snorkeling and seafood-eating, lol. :)
