Dress:  Express Shirt Dress (old) - 2 / $74 (similar)
Belt: Charlotte Russe - S / $6.50 for trio (similar - 4% back!)
Necklace: Forever 21 Layered Chains And Beaded Necklace - $6.80 (similar)
Purse:  Rebecca Minkoff MAC Convertible Clutch via HauteLook - $179 (buy - 12% back!)
Shoes:  Forever 21 Chic Leatherette Stilettos - 5 / $15.80 (similar - 12% back!)
Watch: Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch - $127 (buy)

I bought this dress almost 4 years ago when I stumbled across it at Express.  It was a size 2 and the only one left.  It's a little bit big on me but I fell in love with the beautiful emerald green color and had to have it {you know how it is}.

And while the dress originally came with a patent black skinny belt, I wanted to liven it up a bit and swapped it out for a fun gold belt.  I love the way metallic colors bring a sense of festivity to any look and it really turned this ordinary shirt dress into a fun Thursday outfit!

Ahhh, and I'm so glad the weekend is almost here!  Here's hoping I'll finally have some time to go through Africa pictures!  :)

Whoa, how crazy! I was at a thrift store today and I picked up this same exact Express dress! I too was attracted to the emerald color, but the one I saw was unignorably big on me. A size 8 on my petite frame was a no-go. :( But it looks awesome on you! At least I know what could have been, haha!

awww, it's too bad they only had big sizes. crazy that you did see it at a
thrift store recently though. :)

Emerald is one of my favourites. If it didn't crack so easily, it would have been my first choice for a wedding ring set. You look good in this color!

Emerald is a stunning color on you! And I never thought I'd like green and purple together (too barmey) but this clutch goes so perfectly with the dress!!

This is a lovely dress.  You sparkle like diamonds with this emerald green dress.  The touches of gold (the belt and your skin tone pumps) along with this emerald dress makes this look even better.

Kileen, I love the emerald and eggplant colors. :)  They go so well together!  Looking polished as usual.  Hope you've been well.

wow those green, purple gold look amazing on you!!

Such a pretty color! and I love it paired with the purple clutch. I'd suggest your tailor (aka mom) take up the hem a couple of inches. Maybe I'm just so used to seeing you in shorter skirts and dresses? I think your normal hem length is much more flattering on you! :)

You look so cute... Loving your color combination - Emeralg + Gold. :)

I think I have a similar gold belt from Charlotte Russe too! When I get into that store, I feel like grabbing all the belts and rings!

Lightroom is so super powerful and I love it. You can do a lot of advanced
editing directly through it without needing to go through Photoshop. I
would definitely recommend it. I used Lightroom exclusively for about the
first 6 months of my blogging. Then I slowly started venturing into
Photoshop and learning my way around it. Photoshop is definitely a higher
learning curve though so I'd recommend Lightroom first. I would also
recommend checking out GetTotallyRad as they have some really good Lightroom
Presets that are really amazing:

Good luck! :)

haha, same here! Charlotte Russe's accessories are great and affordable!
:)

Kileen said... [Reply]

yay, we can be twinsies!!  and yeah, i can't believe this dress is so old, but it's been awhile!  :)

Kileen said... [Reply]

i was thinking the same thing!  i'm thinking about taking up the hem a bit as well as tapering in the sides (especially around the hips).  it's just a little too big all around.  thanks for the suggestion!  i'm definitely gonna have my mom work her magic.  :)

AUBREY said... [Reply]

I'm glad you did this jewel tone outfit.  the deep saturated colors are nice, and I like that you kept it simple w/the shoes.

you can fit into express sz 2?

Kileen said... [Reply]

the express size 2 is definitely big all around. the belt definitely helps
cinch it in a bit. i have kinda broad shoulders so that area isn't so bad,
but the hips and length are too big. i'm planning on having my mom tailor
it in a bit. :)

Alamodeetplus said... [Reply]

No no you don't look like a dinosaur at all! You look awesome :)
