You know how we all have that one pair of jeans that hugs our every curve?  The jeans that fit your body perfectly and are your go-to jeans whenever you can't think of anything to wear?  Well, I think I just found that, but in a skirt.  I picked up this H&M lace pencil skirt over Christmas when I was in California visiting family.  Kelly first piqued my interest in this skirt when she showed in one of her posts.  Since there weren't any H&M's in my area and convinced myself I needed to save the money anyways, I refrained from buying it.  But, when I saw it on the rack while shopping in California, all my self-control was gone and I ended up buying it.  I can't say I regret it.  It's currently the only skirt that fits me with absolutely no waist gap!  How can you say no to such perfection?  ^_^

In other news, I was tagged by Linley of Dwelling & Telling to share 7 things about myself during my school years.  And although I've done a 7 Confessions tag, a 10 Things You May Not Know About Me post, and an About page, I actually haven't shared much of my childhood!  So here you go, which lovely (read: embarrasing!) pictures to boot.
  1. Figure Skating
I loved figure skating. Here's even a picture of me practicing one of my figure skating moves. I remember watching Kristi Yamaguchi on tv and wanting to be exactly like her. Unfortunately living in Texas isn't really conducive to practicing figure skating regularly, so those dreams never panned out.  I moved on to gymnastics and ended up doing that for several years...  If you're wondering where I get my muscular thighs from, now you know.

  2. Favorite Color: Pink
I wore pink. A lot.  I think half my wardrobe was filled with this amazingly girlie color and I loved it.  And from the pictures, apparently I was into hats too, and I just didn't know it.

  3. Always Short
I know some petites out there who start off at an average height but then just stop growing. As for me, I was short my entire life. You can really tell in this picture just how short I am in comparison to everyone else. Yes, that's me in the yellow pants standing at least 1 head shorter than everyone else.  Thank goodness I can wear 3" heels now!

  4. My First Scooter
I remember getting a scooter for my 7th birthday and was absolutely ecstatic. It was such a lovely green color and I remember thinking how I could ride to my friend's house so much quicker now so that we could play with Barbie's. Meanwhile, how cool were my shades though, huh?

  5. Pianist
Of course, being the typical Asian kid that I was, I played piano. I actually ended up playing piano for about 11 years.  Out of all my piano recital dresses though, I remember this dress as being my favorite.  Now, it's just kind of ridiculous.  And side ponytail?  Oh goodness.

  6. My Pet Duck
I actually had a pet duck growing up. My best friend and I actually found 2 little stray ducklings on one of our tubing trips down in San Marcos one summer and decided to take them home and take care of them. I had to put him in the front yard cause I actually had 2 dogs already in the backyard! My little duck was the best, but we ended up letting him go in one of the local parks (Zilker Park) after he got big. I still think about him whenever I'm at that park and I see little duckies swimming by... Maybe that's him?

  7. My First Jeans
I distinctly remember seeing these jeans at Mervyn's one day when I was 10 years old and begging my mom to buy them for me. It was the first article of clothing that I actually picked out myself. I thought they were so cool with the side zippers and the acid wash. Now, these jeans just scream 80s!
And now for me to tag!  My picks are:
Ok, enough disclosure for one day.  Sorry for the long post, but hope you guys enjoy the pictures!

P.S. I am organizing a blogger meetup for DFW gals on Saturday, Feb 26!  I've gotten lots of positive responses so far and have a list of current attendees listed in this post.  Please sign up or email me if you're interested! :)

PPS. If you haven't done so already, please check out the lovely ladies of the latest Color Brigade!  Then make sure to link up your own wonderful creation every Tuesday!

Kileen! I adore your outfit, today- with all of the greys and silvers. It's so pretty! ML sent me a BR skirt that's very similar to the one you're wearing! You reminded me that I need to get it out of the closet, and SOON!

Thanks for sharing all of your kiddo photos with us! I rocked the side pony, too. :)

I love that H&M skirt on you, wowza your legs are so long. My skirt nearly covers my knee (yikes), I always pull it super high on my waist so it's not too long.

You were impossibly cute! And so miniature! :) Thanks for the tag? - I'll have to go digging for more pictures.

Beautiful outfit!
Funny to read the school stories!

This skirt reminds me of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie. Instead of jeans being passed around, this skirt fits all petites bloggers. You look so good in them, Kileen!

Lol @ the fanny pack! That aside, you were such an adorable little girl. I see resemblence in the older pics, but your smile always stayed the same.

Man, that skirt looks amazing on EVERYONE! Lookin' good lady!

Oh man, those 80's outfits are giving me flashbacks. Ahhh!

I love your classic outfit! The seemingly monochromatic look is amazing on you! =)

As for your seven things, they're so cute and I love your photos, it totally reminds of me of how I was like as a kid.

You are so so cute! My mommy tried to shove piano lessons up my throat too but I had no patience at it. Plus my piano teacher used to smack my hands if I make a mistake.

=(

Stay Happy and Positive!

You were adorable as a child! (still are hehe) Funny 'cause I was one of the tallest in kindergarten and then everyone started growing except me. LOL

This is a great post for SO MANNY REASONS! My favorite photo was the one of your jeans that you begged for at Mervyn's. I used to beg for things there too. Thanks sharing your memories and for making me remember mine.

I'm loving the lace pencil skirt - so elegant!

And I was a gymnast too! I also suffer from the muscular thighs issue. It makes finding pants the biggest pain.

Loooove your pet duck. So sweet! Baby Kileen was a cutie.

Ashley said... [Reply]

I love your 7 things!! I think I had the exact same scooter as you, except mine was purple. :)

And a pet duck? How adorable.

You were (and still are) a real CUTIE!

SUCH a cute post, I'm following! I love your necklace and makeup <3. Thats cool that you live in Dallas, i live in Austin ^_^.

Omg you're so adorable! And lol that piano recital is classic 80s/90s! I can totally picture you doing gymnastics, it makes total sense!

Thanks again for sending me the skirt. Sadly I'm not as curvy so I'm just not filling it out that well even though it fits me okay at the waist. I'm a little undecided about what to do with it, since I have the other LOFT lace skirt too.
