Mixing Patterns: Stripes and Animal Print. Oh my!

Ann Taylor Moody Jaguar Silk Skirt - 00P (buy here) (buy similar on sale here)

Today I went for a little bit of living on the edge combined with a little bit of playing it safe.  I lived on the edge by mixing two different patterns together (actually three if you count my lacy shoes!) but still played it safe by sticking with the blue color family.  Let me be honest:  the outfit combination did take me a bit to get used to.  But after staring myself down for about five minutes, I finally said, "Let's do this!"  And just to not look too crazy, I added a classic pearl necklace to round things out.  After all, pearls are a girl's second best friend right?  ^_^

So now it's your turn.  What do you guys think of the look?

P.S. I am organizing a blogger meetup for DFW gals on Saturday, Feb 26!  I've gotten lots of positive responses so far and have a list of current attendees listed in this post.  Please sign up or email me if you're interested! :)

I totally love it! The two blue tones are great together and the stockings really put it together :D

I don't think I would attempt this combo myself but you made it work by staying in the same color family. I agree with Ramsey, you always look polished in a ponytail :) Somehow I usually look frumpy with my hair pulled back.

I LOVE this look! The jaguar print skirt isn't too overwhelming, and I love how you tied the blues together. And the pearl necklace is so pretty and sophisticated :)

what a lovely look kileen. you did great with mixing different patterns!

Oh my is right. It totally works. Maybe because the blues tie together so well? It looks totally work appropriate and classic, despite the pattern mixing. Good job!

This looks great! I think it works well because the colours are all in the same tone. Would love to see a close of up these lacy shoes!

I have been too afriad to mix pattern with pattern because I fear the final look would be too busy but I had to change my mind when I see your outfit. It totally depends on the choices and you made a good one choosing those two pieces.

I like how the stripes & animal print don't compete but rather complement each other. Plus, the color combo is great. You look awesome. Oh, and those shoes? Hi and hello there. Love.

I am not a fan of mixing patterns, but this outfit looks really nice! I think the subtle accessories (pearls and black shoes/tights) helped pull the outfit together. Good idea:)
